7.1 Intro
This module further dives into the topics of presentation skills, peer reviewing resumes and cover letters and submitting ethics argument paper.
Dr. Tao's video goes over the importance of having great presentation skills in order to be more effective at conveying your ideas to a large group of people. I agree with this because from my work experience, you need to be able to convince your colleagues and your management that your idea is good and that it can work but you need to be able to do it the correct way and that takes skills and practice.
Peer reviews are also a great way to get a second set of eyes on your paper that you might not have seen. It also allows you to see how other people write and learn about a new topic. Overall, it's beneficial to both parties even though it takes extra time to do.
7.2 Lecture/Readings
This lecture takes a look at the video presentation rubric, Ted Talk Presentations, and different presentation resources that will help with making videos for this class and the future. Overall, they are helpful resources in getting the groundwork done for this final project for this class.
The Ted video I watched this week was called the Will Automation Take Away Our Jobs? Video. I did my ethics paper on this, and also believe how automation will eventually take over most physically demanding jobs. But if AI were to grow, I think that it's possible robots may be able to do jobs that require thinking and decision making which is scary.
I also read about visual aid and props which include diagrams, graphs, and charts. This is important when you are making a speech in order to strengthen the messages that you are trying to convey.7.3 Final Video Planning
Our group's planning went well. We met over Discord to discuss the portions that we are responsible how we are going to be doing it. It's kind of difficult to make time with the final paper at hand but we are doing our best. The process is kind of rocky since it's hard to meet because everyone has different schedules. Next time we have group projects, we need to do a better job communicating and getting things done. Maybe use the meeting minutes more diligently.
