1.0 Starting a new class
I'm excited to start working on this class and doing a lot of problem solving. Having one week to complete an assignment is plenty of time. I'm excited to start coding and debugging and working with my team to complete different projects.
1.1 Have you used Eclipse before?
This is my first time using Eclipse. It's pretty intuitive. There are a lot of resources and tools online like YouTube and Google if I ever have any questions on how to use it. In my MPC class, we used BlueJay as our IDE which was really simple. I like Eclipse better since the UI is nicer and the autocomplete feature helps a lot with seeing methods for different classes.
1.2 What languages are you proficient in at this point?
I'm proficient at Java and Python. Currently, I'm learning HTML on my own through Udemy and doing a full stack web dev bootcamp to enhance my skills. I think that in order to be successful, you need to put in the time outside of the classroom.
1.3 What is your desired field of Computer Science at this point?
I want to work as a software engineer working on apps and using Python or Java. I also want to learn Swift in order to build iOS apps which sounds interesting.
1.4 Update your learning journal from what you experienced this week with class.
This week's assignment was fairly straight forward. The book and power point slides helped a lot with learning about the concepts for the week. It's a good introduction in order to get my feet wet with Java again but my skills are still there. I hope that my Java skills grow each week and can culminate in the end
