CST338 - Module 8: Final Project

8.1 They say hindsight is 20/20, what advice would you give to the next cohort regarding this course?

I would say be persistent in  your studies. This class requires supplementation beyond the the classroom in order to learn and do the assignments properly such as watching YouTube videos and looking up search overflow. Be able to communicate with your group because half of the assignments you will be working with them on the projects for the week. There will be times when the learning gets tough but be persistent and don't give up. The last two weeks is probably the hardest since you will have two assignments to do along with a final project. Brushen up on your Java because you should not be learning to code at this point. You should be able to know Java on an intermediate level along with OOP concepts.

8.2 How much do you envision using the skills you gained in this course in your career?

I envision using a lot of the skills I learned here if I wanted to go to Android programming. It seems like a very interesting thing to do if I ever decide that I want to go into that. This course was a great way to reinforce my skills as a programmer and it tested how much I knew. It gave me confidence knowing that I can stick with this class on the programming assignments.

8.3 Review

For my final project, i made a simple Android math application that has three pages with a calculator and a random number generator. I did a lot of googling and YouTube in order to figure out the layout that i wanted to create as well as how everything was supposed to look. I enjoyed the design aspect of this project and the coding portion helped me practice my Java skills. The concepts were very similar to that of Java GUI swing applications so it wasn't too difficult of a transition.
