With the first week of this semester coming to a close, it's time for me to review what I have learned during this past week from my assignments, lectures, and interactions with fellow students and professors.
1.1 Team Meeting w/ Instructors
My team has a meeting tomorrow evening with the instructors for this class. Throughout the first week, I have enjoyed the interactions and attempted interactions from my classmates and instructors. It shows the dedication this cohort has in order to communicate and work together.
1.2 Lecture: Quiz on Intro to CSUMB and SCD
In module, I have learned a lot about the history our school. First of all, it was once a military base before the inception of the university in 1994 after it's citizens proposed that they built a public university after the base was dismantled. In addition to school history, I have learned a lot about the school's vision to not only help educate its students, but to make sure the knowledge learned can be applied and integrated into making the surrounding community a better place.
1.3 Lecture: Quiz on Five Step Strategy Reading
In this module, I have learned about the strategies to help with learning remotely and how to keep yourself motivated. For instance, it is important to read the syllabus, plan weekly study times, connect with classmates, ask questions, and log into Canvas frequently. This is important because if I follow these simple guide, I can be a successful student.
1.4 Lecture: Team Meeting Minutes, Including Video Discussion
In this module, I learned about how to keep team meetings on track and productive. This module introduced the concept of "Meeting Minutes", which is a document that keeps track of the different agendas for the meeting as well as notes and action items. Having this in the toolbox will help with making future meetings more productive and cohesive.
1.5 Lecture Connect with Your Faculty and the Class
In this module, I updated my Canvas profile, made a LinkedIn profile, and created a short YouTube introduction video. This is important because it illustrates the importance of being connected and making it feel like we know our cohort in person amidst learning online.
1.6 Lecture: Create Your Learning Journal and Publish Your First Post
In this module, I created a learning journal and starting making posts to keep track of my progress and to reflect upon what I have learned in the following week. As tedious as it seems, I think this is an important habit to develop in order to asses your week and remind yourself what you have learned in the previous week. Once school picks up, this will be an important tool to remind yourself how much you have learned and grown in the past.
1.7 Writing Lab: Module 1 Quiz
In this module, I learned about APA formatting in order to write a college-tier paper. I have not written an academic paper in over five years so this was a great refresher on how to properly write an academic paper with the correct format. This is important because as I need to write more papers in the future, this will provide a solid foundation for my writing skills.
1.8 Writing Lab: Industry Analysis Outline and Reference Page
In this module, I created an outline for a research paper on the analysis of a company and what I would like to do for that company. This is an important assignment because it is very introspective into what I want to have for my future and also researching a company and knowing about it will help me in the future when I apply for interviews.
